Requirements of Grills on Balconies:

NOTICE: January 1, 2012

In accordance with the 2010 Florida Fire Prevention Code, Section 10.11

“For other than one and two family dwellings- No hibachi, gas-fired grill, charcoal grill, or other similar devices used for cooking, heating or other purpose, shall be used or kindled on any balcony or under any overhanging portion or within 10ft. (3m) of any structure”.

UL Listed electric ranges, grills, or similar electrical apparatus shall be permitted.

Storage of Liquid Propane (LP): For other than one and two family dwellings, LP bottles greater than 1lb. capacity (small green camp style bottles) shall not be stored in any residential dwelling or otherwise location. Storage of greater than 1lb. LP bottles shall be maintained in a metal flammables cabinet at least 25ft away from any occupancy.

“The Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) shall have the authority to prohibit any or all open flames, and open, recreational, and cooking fires or other sources of ignition, or establish special regulations on the use of any form of fire or smoking material where circumstances make such conditions hazardous”.

Authority Having Jurisdiction

There are community grills in the picnic areas located between the pools and the water.  You can use your own grill, but use it in those areas.  PLEASE DO NT USE THE GRILLS IN THE GRASS.  Violation of the Code will be reported to the Okaloosa Fire District.
